Job Responsibilities
Under immediate supervision of the Nursing Education and Infection Control Manager, for a period of time from six and not to exceed twelve months, receives instruction and training in caring for individuals with mental illness; performs beginning level duties in the care and habilitation/treatment of civil patients who are intellectually disabled. Actively participates in classroom and on-the-job training classes. Receives training in the Interdisciplinary Team process.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requires ability to develop skills to provide basic personal and nursing care services and to participate in programs of care, treatment and habilitation, to participate in and successfully complete a comprehensive training program. Requires ability to provide the sincere interest necessary to work effectively with patients with mental illness or developmental disabilities. Requires ability to conduct unit rounds to respond to facility wide emergencies, to perform and deliver mouth to mask CPR and manual resuscitation. Requires ability to write clear and concise statements of patient care, treatment and performance in accordance with approved guidelines. Requires ability to exercise good judgement in human interactions and patient care activities, to develop and maintain harmonious working relationships with direct care staff and to identify the most positive treatment regime and carry out that treatment according to best practice and behavior modification.

Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Hours: Various Units, Shifts and Days Off
Mental Health Technician Trainee: Work schedule will be based on operational needs and determined upon completion of on the job training (OJT).
6:30 am - 3:00 pm
2:30 pm - 11:00 pm
10:45 pm - 6:45 am
Off two days a week and off every other weekend
